thousands of acres in North Jersey are still up in Flames tonight as fire Crews contend with Gusty winds that are both fueling and spreading the Jennings Creek wildfire in pic County the New Jersey forest fire service this afternoon said Crews have managed to scale it back from roughly 3500 Acres at its peak to just shy of 2300 the fire is also now 10% contained on the New Jersey side in West Milford and about 20% contained including the section burning in orange County New York officials in West Milford say they've stopped asking for help from local departments and are continuing to work with counterparts in New York the fire started Friday and claimed the life of an 18-year-old firefighter when a tree fell on him two other injuries were reported one from smoke inhalation that required hospitalization the forest fire service says no evacuations are being ordered at this time but 10 structures are threatened including two homes in pic County the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for North Jersey through 6:00 this evening Chris Franck with the state forest fire service says fire crews are making progress despite significant challenges from dry conditions and increased winds we are in a place where we are actively engaging the fire and uh right now all our tactics seem to be holding the line here in New Jersey and I'm hearing good reports from the field what's going on even with the current wind conditions [Music]
