[MUSIC] JOAN CARTAN-HANSEN, HOST: There're eight species of bears in the world. There are more American black bears than any other kind. black bear fur can be black, brown, white or even silver blue. The brown bear is the only one with a hump on its back. These bears include Grizzlies and Kodiaks. Polar bears look white because their fur reflects light, but its skin is black. Polar bears live near the north pole and because they can weigh up to 1500 pounds polar bears are the biggest type of bear. Asiatic black bears have a swath of creamy fur on their chests. Because it's in the shape of a half-moon, they're also called moon bears. Spectacled bears live in the jungles of the Andes mountains of South America. They spend a lot of time in trees where they eat and sleep. Sun bears have a golden patch on their chest and, at 60-150 pounds, they're the smallest bears. Sloth bears have fewer teeth than other bears so its easier for them to gobble up termites. And giant panda bears eat only bamboo.
